When it comes to city cars, people prefer classic colors - black, red, white and silver. The leading colors of family vehicles such as tourers, SUVs and minivans are blue, light green or even earthy tones. Sports cars should definitely  be impressive – that is why fast cars enthusiasts usually choose yellow, blue, red, orange and black painted beasts. The choice of the color also depends on the gender of the driver or even on the specific car brand. The type of the car can also determine the color palette – usually eco-friendly cars such as hybrids, diesel or electric vehicles are painted in white, green or any neutral tone.

Top Sports Cars Colors

Car`s color reveals the owner`s attitude. When a man purchases a super car he knows that his new acquisition will be an object of desire. In fact, sports cars look fantastic in many colors but most of the people opt for a black one. According to the most iconic auto builders - Lamborghini and Ferrari, the black has its reign. It is synonymous with high social status, luxury and classic quality On the other hand when presenting a new sport car at auto show the iconic brands choose flashy yellow, red, light green and orange painting.

Orange and red cars are bestsellers when it comes to Lamborghini Aventador. Light green or yellow are the most preferred colors when people buy Lamborghini Gallardo.

The base colors for Ferraris are red and black. These tones have become a symbol of the Italian sports cars brand.

Most people buying Mustang prefer red or blue colors. More than 50 percent of all Ford cars sold were painted in these colors.

So, why was the white color was announced the most popular for cars, according to DuPont Automotive Color Popularity Report? In fact, buyers are getting tired of silvery shades. However in the sports car segment attractive colors are leaders. These vehicles are often an object of aftermarket solutions including an extraordinary painting, car wrapping, etc.

Luxury Cars Colors

The high price tag makes people to think about the car in a different way. Black is definitely the must have color in luxury cars segment. This color perfectly matches or contrasts with most of the other tones. Recently there is a big shift in luxury cars design - boutique cars makers use lots of polished aluminum and carbon fiber in vehicle`s exterior.

White is also a big seller. It is combined with white interior or contrasting upholstery.

Rolls-Royce is synonymous with luxury. Brand`s models such as Six Senses concept and Ghost are finished in pearl scent white or black finish.

Car designers are constantly modernizing the classic color palette. Recently we have seen breathtaking metallic hues, pearly tones, matte colors, as well as 3D containing varying degrees of metallic particles. Many cars are finished in three-dimensional colors or shimmery chromes. Even flat colors have different shades and variations.

Genders and Car Colors Preferences

Vibrant red is a popular car color not only for men, but for women. Gray is also in the list of top car colors for both genders. But there are some shades that women prefer more than man. These are earthy tones such as beige, golden brown, light metallic blue, and emerald.

When it comes to a luxury cars, both black and white are seen driven by male and female drivers.

Sometimes low popularity of the color does not reflect the car image in a negative way. For example few buyers would purchase a violet car but the owner of a purple colored vehicle attracts everyone`s attention. This is a color of choice for tuned Mercedes-Benz and Lamborghini sports cars. So if you want to be notice you better choose a prominent finish for your vehicle. Of course, painting the car in exotic color is not a cheap deal.

Color Preferences by Countries and Continents

Traditions, geographic region and even the continent also reflect the vehicle color preferences. Bright colors are very popular in South America and Middle East. In North America you could see mostly neutral colors on the roads. The hottest car color in the US and Canada is white.

Gray is still the most preferred tone in Asia. In France, the luxurious car brand is Bugatti is offering the one-offs Bugatti Veyron in two tones. Striking color combinations are highlighted by polished metal details. Another French car maker Peugeot presented a breathtaking concept Peugeot Onyx featuring pure copper panels which appearance changes over time due to the patina.

High-performance replacements of best-selling cars have been presented at 2014 Detroit auto show. Most of the car brands preferred to develop more powerful version of popular models that investing in concept cars. It was almost the same last year - sixteen concept cars debuted at the prestigious North American International Auto Show NAIAS 2013 in Detroit but none of them was created or built in the U.S. American automotive industry presented 10 models in the production cars range. We are not surprised that most of the journalists covering the event were international correspondents. This year the expo in the Motor City was shining with some breathtaking U.S. new car models.

2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06

The eagerly anticipated 2015 Chevrolet Corvette Z06 was one of them. The upcoming Z06 will be powered by a supercharged 6.2-liter V8 engine. The power coming from the new motor - 625-hp, is significantly more than in Chevy`s predecessor. In comparison the powertrain of the current model delivers at about 500 hp. Owners can make a choice between an automatic eight-speed transmission or manual shifting.

There is an option to transform this vehicle into Corvette Z06 Z07 with a special program including aerodynamic modifications and high-performance tires.

2015 Chrysler 200

The 2015 Chrysler 200 is a replacement of one or the popular vehicles in U.S. During the 2014 NAIAS, the American car maker announced that this compact sedan is offered in three modifications - 200S, 200C, LX and Limited edition. The power comes from a 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine generating 184 hp and 173 lb-ft of torques.

Buyers can choose between 4 or 6 cylinder powertrains . The more powerful version is fitted with 3.6-liter V6 engine delivering 295 horsepower and 262 lb-ft of torque. Drivers can also choose between front-or all-wheel-drive system. The engine is mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Lexus RC F

The international debut of the Lexus RC F coupe was at 2014 Detroit auto show. The car is fitted with a 5.0-liter V8 engine with 450 hp.

It is coupled with eight-speed automatic gearbox. A special aerodynamic kit enables the impressive performance. The package includes an active rear wing made out of carbon. Its sporty appearance matches the roof which is also made of clear-coated carbon fiber.

2015 Ford F-150

The 2015 edition of the Ford F-150 is much lighter than its predecessor. Ford engineers achieved 700 pounds weight reduction thanks to the use of advanced technology and materials.

The Ford pickup features an all-aluminum construction. The new version of the best-selling vehicle in North America is available with four engine options. The standard pickup is fitted with a 3.5-liter V-6 engine or more capable 5.0-liter V-8 motor. The 2015 Ford F-150 is offered with a superpowered 2.7-liter or 3.5-liter V-6 EcoBoost engines mated to a 6-speed automatic transmission.

The North American International Auto Show (NAIAS) is one of the most prestigious international events of the last 25 years. More than 800 000 car enthusiasts visited the show this year. They were curious to see more than 50 car premieres at Cobo Center in Detroit. Representatives of the automotive industry from 28 countries took part in the expo. More that 3000 reporters covered the event.
